1. Purpose
Use this workflow before merging a commit or Pull Request. CodeVista reads the diff and surrounding repository context, summarizes the change, and reports potential defects, missing validation, weak error handling, maintainability concerns, and missing tests.
2. Before You Begin
- Open the repository that contains the commit in the current CodeVista workspace.
- Confirm that the commit exists locally and obtain its hash.
- Confirm that the review Slash Command is available in the current CodeVista version.
3. Starter Prompt
/review this commit <commit-hash>
Example
/review this commit 2f6865474719010a1b2f2997c6e79784a1fa9728
4. How to Use
- Copy the hash of the commit you want to review.
- Open the repository and CodeVista chat.
- Run the review command with the commit hash.
- Check each finding against the cited file, symbol, and repository context.
- Ask for a focused fix, missing tests, or a Pull Request summary as needed.
5. Expected Result
- Change summary: The purpose and affected behavior of the commit are explained concisely.
- Prioritized findings: Issues are grouped by severity and tied to the relevant file or symbol.
- Actionable recommendations: Each confirmed issue includes its impact and a practical next step.

6. Tips
- Separate confirmed defects from optional improvements and style preferences.
- Require each finding to include severity, evidence, impact, and recommendation.
- Ask CodeVista to identify test gaps related specifically to the changed behavior.
